Investing For Tomorrow has a long history of investing in our local community, from supporting our local blood transportation service to backing the local rugby league team. We also have a long-running partnership with our local hospice to help them raise funds for this critical local service.

Overgate Hospice provides expert care, support, advice and information for patients and their loved ones in Calderdale who have a terminal illness or a long term condition that cannot be cured.

We have supported many of their fundraising initiatives and this year our team decided not just to sponsor Overgate’s 10-mile Midnight Walk, but Toby, Naomi, Callum and their partners decided to take on the challenge themselves. Thank you to many of our clients who sponsored the team, raising a total of £1,260 for this very worthwhile local cause.

Their Midnight Walk sees thousands of walkers take on a 10-mile night time challenge for the hospice, starting and ending at the iconic Piece Hall, Halifax.

As well as being proud to sponsor the event’s mid-point checkpoint, the team also raised over £1,000 as Toby, Naomi, Callum and partners completed the challenge during a wet and blustery September night!

The final total

Our sponsorship page is now closed, but the the team raised a total of £1,260 for this very worth local cause.

Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes has unveiled a new car to transport urgent blood and pathology samples, medication and donated breast milk around the region – jointly purchased by Investing For Tomorrow.

We have been long-term supporters of this much-needed local charity which has 25 volunteer Blood Bike Riders in West Yorkshire, including our Chairman Laurence Turner, who has been a volunteer rider for several years.

Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes travel thousands of miles annually across the region making urgent deliveries during the night and at weekends. This is done at no charge or cost to the NHS. The new Dacia car will be used in adverse weather conditions or when larger consignments require urgent delivery.

Whiteknights Yorkshire Blood Bikes car donation

Our Managing Director Toby Turner said “It’s a remarkable service run entirely by volunteers and is a huge benefit to the local hospitals and hospice patients. We’re thrilled that the car we have jointly purchased will support their work in the community for years to come.”

Matthew Butterfield from Whiteknights West Yorkshire added: “We really appreciate the level of support we have received from Investing For Tomorrow including having previously received sponsorship for a Blood Bike motorcycle. We are not funded in any way by the NHS, which is a common misconception. So its excellent to receive recognition and support from a local Halifax business.”

At the unveiling it was announced the car is to be named in remembrance of a former Whiteknights West Yorkshire volunteer rider, Maurice Greenwood.

After 10 years, 232 appearances and 103 tries, the Panthers’ Halifax born winger James Saltonstall has been rewarded with a testimonial year by the Rugby Football League. Known affectionately as ‘Salty’, James’ tireless determination and effort has made him a firm favourite with both fans and players alike.

We don’t just invest in tomorrow, we invest in our local community too. Which is why we are proud shirt sponsors of James’ testimonial match at the Shay – which was originally scheduled for January but had to be postponed due to a snow-covered stadium.

We have been long supporters and partners of the Halifax Panthers and the work they do to support our local community, which is why we also sponsor the team’s Learning and Physical Disability Team.

A number of other events have also been organised where fans and former colleagues can come together, celebrate, reminisce, and raise funds in appreciation of James’ long tenure at the club.

Keep an eye on the Halifax Panther’s website and socials to learn when you can buy tickets for the rescheduled match.

Investing For Tomorrow continue to support important initiatives in our community

The Learning and Physical Disability Team is a newly-formed team from Halifax Panthers and Investing For Tomorrow are proud to be sponsors of the new initiative.

The team aims to provide all those in the Panthers community who have learning or physical disabilities the chance to be part of a professional rugby league side. The team provides the players with new opportunities and friendships whilst playing the sport they love, which strongly aligns with all our values at Investing For Tomorrow.

During each session, players can develop their fundamental rugby league skills whilst enjoying physical exercise. It is also a fantastic opportunity for the participants and their carers to socialise and make new friends.

Head coach Craig Serbert-Smith has a long history with mixed ability rugby league and is positive the teams will be a force to be reckoned with in disability rugby league.

Learn how to get involved with the team (either as a coach or player) on the Halifax Panthers Foundation website here.

Investing For Tomorrow was proud to sponsor Overgate Hospice’s recent sporting dinner fundraiser with footballing and broadcasting legend Harry Redknapp.

And it was truly a night to remember! From start to finish, the energy in the room was electric and the event raised an incredible £128,590 – a record-breaking total that marks the most that Overgate Hospice ever raised at a single event.

Overgate Hospice provides expert care and support for people in Calderdale who have a terminal illness or a long term condition that cannot be cured. The Overgate Hospice Annual Charity Ball is one of the most prestigious events on the Overgate calendar and one of their biggest fund-raisers. As such Investing For Tomorrow were proud to be sponsors for the evening.

In 1981 Overgate Hospice was established for the people of Calderdale providing specialist care. It costs approximately £8,500 a day to run Overgate and £3.3 million a year. Sadly, only 18% of this is funded by the Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group, with the rest coming from traditional fundraising activities by the general public.

Thanks to the incredible kindness of the guests, the event raised an astounding £70,000! This remarkable achievement will go directly towards funding a much-needed overnight relatives’ room as part of Overgate’s Big Build AppealThe relatives’ room will offer a comforting space where loved ones can stay close to their family members during the most difficult times.

Investing For Tomorrow helps keep Overgate Hospice open at the start of 2021

Chartered Financial Planner and Advising Partner Laurence Turner of IFT Wealth Management in Halifax is kick starting the New Year for Overgate Hospice with a donation of £7,000 to keep their doors open on the first day of 2021.

Laurence isn’t just an Overgate Hero, he is also a dedicated volunteer for the White Knights Blood Bikes charity and delivers urgent blood to people across Calderdale to help his local community. Over the past 12 month Laurence has made significant donations of £12,000 towards the Hospice’s Emergency Corporate Appeal which was launched back in May and also is a regular sponsor of their fundraising events: The Yorkshire Peaks Challenge, Overgate Garden Party and Mountain Bike Challenge and many more.

Sponsorships are one of the main ways which can help bring income into the Hospice and without this support the vast calendar of Hospice events wouldn’t happen.  Laurence Turner said: “Our company ethos here is all about working together, sharing expertise and supporting each other.  “We feel that the inspiring work which is done every day at Overgate Hospice is truly worthy of our support and it is so important to local people in the community and we’re very proud to be a part of it.”

Becki Marren, Business Partnerships Manager said: “This year has been incredibly difficult for the Hospice, but we are so grateful for businesses like IFT Wealth management and heroes like Laurence who are there to support us when we need it the most.  “I want to thank Laurence for being so dedicated to Overgate for many years, your kindness makes such a difference to the Hospice and we are immensely grateful.”
